A Country Inn & Suites is something you'd expect to find at a highway interchange. It doesn't belong in Natchez- even tarted up with a brick veneer, it's still a lower end hotel. Why not something like the Alluvian in Greenwood?

Tom BarnesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32089423.post-67375681881116288662007-03-12T20:17:00.000-05:002007-03-12T20:17:00.000-05:00How will this design fit into the current scheme o...How will this design fit into the current scheme of downtown natchez?
At least the convention center was designed to look a little like our downtown area.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32089423.post-15768994439580950132007-03-12T18:54:00.000-05:002007-03-12T18:54:00.000-05:00By the way. Look on the back of the very red-brick building brochure and you'll find "restaurant" missing from the list of the very few ammenities.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32089423.post-46790755578381291612007-03-12T18:50:00.000-05:002007-03-12T18:50:00.000-05:00I've seen this picture they're putting out for our...I've seen this picture they're putting out for our new casino hotel. Excuse me, did I say casino...oh, my! I surely mean Convention Center Hotel????. I think they're passing this around so we won't be shocked when we see the actual thing because it's very different from what they showed at those meetings where they try to convince the public that guys like Tom Bauer, Warren Ruether and Matt Walker are our best friends come to save us (uncultured pearls) from our own naivete. Someone said we should have had a different hotel franchise but someone else got the nice one. So, guess we have to settle for the bottom of the barrell. That's right. These guys who run the city give us 3d world ammenities and deals while they're scrapping the gravy off the top into their own pockets. Is this what the Preserv. Commission approved for our downtown Convention Center Hotel? I'm absolutely amazed at the rip-off artists around here and their con-artist, wheeler-dealer friends they bring in to vandalize our city. I'm disgusted!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32089423.post-59810105786425487762007-03-12T10:18:00.000-05:002007-03-12T10:18:00.000-05:00Looks like every other Country Inn and Suites in t...Looks like every other Country Inn and Suites in the Country. Otherwise it looks about as ordinary, unattractive and unremarkable as the original controversial condominium design. Nothing to distinguish it from any motel/hotel you'd find off of an Interstate highway or on the outskirts of a city. I don't think it's any worse than the Comfort Suites across the river, but apparantly Vidalia cares nothing about what goes up on their riverfront. It's not a good design for our downtown. It's directly across from a National Historic Landmark building (old Commercial Bank). Why didn't the Historic Natchez Foundation get their architects to work with the owners like they did the condos? I've seen much more appropriate design suggestions HNF has put forward for a hotel on the Riverfront. Well, at least it's not on the very edge of the fragile bluffs and is not as likely as the condos to cause a major slide.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32089423.post-83804132345040989962007-03-12T00:16:00.000-05:002007-03-12T00:16:00.000-05:00Awful.Awful.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32089423.post-10046372131253381972007-03-11T23:45:00.000-05:002007-03-11T23:45:00.000-05:00Hard to tell from that - a low-detail drawing of a...Hard to tell from that - a low-detail drawing of a building on level ground with no context... heh.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
