Election News Flash!

Gwen Ball has filed as a Democrat to run for Alderwoman in Ward 3, currently represented by Republican Bob Pollard. If you read this blog, you know that Gwen and I are friends, so I can't pretend to be unbiased, but I truly believe this is really great news for our City.

Imagine an smart, knowledgable Alderwoman who believes in citizen involvement, integrity of the governmental process, making decisions based on facts and research, and debating issues and voting in full view of the public. And further imagine that Alderwoman is courageous and is willing to stand up and fight for what is right, but at the same time is personable, friendly, charming, and reasonable. How refreshing! That's just exactly what Natchez needs on the Board.

That Alderwoman is Gwen Ball, but you don't have to take my word for it. Her actions speak for her. She willingly attended all those long, boring, and aggravating Board of Aldermen meetings. She spent untold hours researching the issues and presented informed arguments to the Board, that just fell on deaf ears. And when she watched in frustration as they continued to perform illegal and unethical acts, she took them to court. And now, she's taking the next logical step by offering herself to the citizens of Ward 3 as their representative to the City government.

I'm sure you'll agree that Natchez needs Gwen Ball on the Board of Aldermen.

Please be kind enough to post a picture of Ms Ball so we can know if we have seen her

It would be great to have an intelligent, independent thinker on the BOA. Someone who isn't afraid to stand up for what is best for Natchez. Gwen Ball would do a great job for Natchez. Most importantly, she would hold the Mayor and the other aldermen "accountable."

Gwen would be a breath of fresh air in city government. She has many outstanding qualities such as intelligence( can't say that for many of the BOA's current members), vision and honesty. I don't live in Ward 3, but if I did, I would vote for Gwen Ball.

Pollard has done a tremendous job for us in Ward 3. Who is Gwen Bell and what are her qualifications?

"Pollard has done a tremendous job for us in Ward 3"??? I guess you could say that if you like Mayor Phillip West, since Pollard did everything West told him to.

What has Pollard done in Ward 3 that is so great? I don't live in Ward 3 but would be interested to know. And, I think that all of us benefit from all the aldermen, regardless of the ward we live in. Actually, most people don't even know who their alderman is.

I like Gwen - but she is a little too far on the fringe - I look forward to the debates it should be fun. I know people happy and unhappy with Bob. Best of luck Gwen - can't vote for either but I think Bob will win.

Interestingly enough, my comments are not getting posted either.

If your comment has not been posted, it's because you didn't follow the rules. Please read "How to View & Post Comments" listed under Links on the side.

Note that comments typed in all caps will not be published. However, I published the above comment this time, so I could respond. Writing in all caps is like shouting and is rude and offensive.

I think Gwen is more moderate than most of you give her credit for.

My,My,My Casey Ann,
I'll let your viewers and participents judge who's loud,
rude and offensive. I use caps more often than not because I am in my mid-seventies and do not see very well. I might add that this is the first time in those 70+ years that I've ever been called those names. Thanks!
Your great analytical wisdom is amazing. I guess that came with you PhD,huh? Unfortunately, I was never prived to achieving that status, but I admire you for having done so.
My issue is with censorship, not confrontation.
You hurt my feelings and make me extremely mad which is most unusual for me. I'll get over it.
....and to show you that I have a good heart, I want to tell you that
I don't believe even "half" the bad things that I hear about you.

Anyone who wants Pollard to continue serving our City obviously does not pay attention to the amazing record of inaction, secret meetings and illegal actions of the present board and mayor. The citizens might as well stay away from the "open meetings". This administration has been astonishing! Wake Up People! Let Gwen Ball work for Openness and Honesty in Government and Respect for the Citizenry from our city government. This is not a partisan issue folks - the future of our town is in jeopordy. We must have an administration who understands the town.

Just what IS the Fringe" that I hear about? I MUST be part of it!! Oh Goody!! It's an honor to be tagged as such by people who do not give a fat rat about the lives, cares and woes of others less fortunate. By people who scoff at "Tree Huggers" and by those who think that all people should be able to "buy a fender for their truck"
I'm so fed up with arrogance and shallow values!! GO GWEN!!!
