Shame on Mississippi

Mississippi once again has embarassed itself. In every state across the country, there are record voter turnouts. So what kind of turnout do we get in Mississippi? Light to moderate. Unbelievable!

We were the center of the political universe today. All eyes were on Mississippi, and they all saw that miserable turnout. We are the laughingstock of the nation again.

So the next time Mississippi goes to Congress and asks for something, guess what they'll say. Mississippi doesn't even care enough to go vote - they can forget it. And we'll deserve it.

I am truly ashamed of my state today.

UPDATE: Another thing that will not look good for Mississippi is our racism. Only 9% of black voters chose Clinton over Obama. Whites were slightly less racist, with 21% voting for Obama.

No wonder we are at the bottom of every imaginable list, now we can add this: apathy in voting.

I'm a Natchez native but live out of state. I'm shocked!

Tell me, was there blizzard or an ice storm or perhaps a tsunami?

Or maybe the weather was so beautiful that everyone was "gone fishing."

How pathetic.

Well, again, it all comes back to education. Or lack thereof.

Sorry, the weather was not an issue. A little chilly and overcast, but no rain. And it was not beautiful.

Or possibly most Mississippians, like me, just figured neither Hillary or Obama are worth voting for, and took a nap instead.

How about the 5 Republicans and 2 Democrats running for Congress? One of them will be our next Congressman. Is a nap more important to you?

I'm sorry, Casey. Sorry for all of us, for the people who work so hard to run and then find that people just really don't care.

Conservative Sam says.........

blah!..blah!...blah!....blah.....

You and Hanoi Mary are totally at fault for the poor turnout at the polls. You did such a great job in convincing and overselling our fellow blogspeople on how great Hillary is.... and how she was the only real "gut" choice, that everyone must have felt it would have been a waste of time to go and vote. They went fishing....

I do congratulate you on keeping your predictions at 100% or would it be better to express it as 0 %?

On the other hand, you notice how conservatives helped the liberals by turning out and voting for Obama. We want change!! We want change !!!!

Now that Hillary is out...for all practical purposes.....are you going to support Obama ?

Think hard about this because.... Wouldn't you be putting the kiss of defeat on him by doing so ???

Republicans done what you suggested earlier and went elsewhere today. They went to the polls.

Let's have some fun now with Natchez politics. Put a couple of good topics out there and let's get going.

I'm always here if you need some good, sound, conservative, counseling. This is especially true for those couple of Republican "want to be's" out there.

I love you guys and better luck ahead! Be a good sport....

Conservative Sam.

12% of the voters in yesterday's Democratic primary were Republicans, and 75% of them voted for Clinton.

Mississippi typically has 300,000 more voters in the presidential general election than in the previous year's gubernatorial election. With the presidency and two Senate seats at stake in November, we'll have a good turnout then.

Dear Conservative Sam:

I would suggest you read the articles before you start mouthing off. I did not predict who would win the races yesterday. I simply gave my opinions. I am quite used to supporting political candidates who lose, and it doesn't bother me a bit.

The turnout was actually much better than our Sec. of State had predicted. He guessed 125,000-150,000. What in the world was he thinking? I am not sure what our exact number was, 550,000 or so?

Dear Casey Ann,

Be a good sport!!

Conservative Sam

P.S. Why are you picking on me? I didn't direct my comment to you....
There was a profile presented so I presume that you must have thought it fit ?? Sorry if you took it personally...

My sincere apologies,

Conservative Sam

P.S.2 Lighten up Darling, we can't
win elections but,at least, we can have some fun while we're trying.

P.S.3 Ha! Can't believe that I finally was able to get a rise out of you...Now I know how to pull your chain!!

Love ya....

Conservative Sam

Are you aware of any blogs that address the fiasco that is going on at Natchez Regional? I would like to hear what the average Joe thinks about it ???

Record Turnout!

Perhaps the low turnout simply reflects the lack of decent candidates.

I understand that you are a staunch Hillary supporter, so we are bound to disagree, but of the current crop of candidates(by which I mean McCain, Clinton, or Obama) I honestly don't care who wins the election. None of them have the courage to really address the needs of the country.

Oh sure, they'll debate taxes. One will want to raise them by 4%; another merely 3%; and they'll all call it a "tax cut" because they didnt go up 5%. It's still money forcibly taken from me and spent on things not of my choosing. They'll debate troop withdrawals, health care, net neutrality and immigration but only with slightly different degrees of the same ideas. Sure they sound radically different in media sound bites, but in the end it all the same.

I want a candidate who will enact sweeping changes. That will never happen, certainly not in the Democratic or Republican parties. Makes it hard to get out of bed for a mere primary. I'll grant that this year the attention fringe Republican Ron Paul received was a pleasant surprise, but simply goes to show how radical ideas will not get one elected.

I do, however, always vote in the general election. I am proud of the fact in twenty years I have never voted for a winning presidential candidate.

Negative Ned says.....

thanks to John Leek for helping that person (? ) with the proper spelling of "moron"....

because unbeknown to him, it also helped me too...I thought it was spelled "Mowron".

By the way John, why are you so proud to have never voted for a winner????

Hate to be a mainstream American?

Feel that you have always been the only one that voted for the "best" candidate? (You've heard,I am sure, what happens to people who think that everyone other than themselves are crazy?) Be careful..

John, You seem to be an intelligent person so , and I mean this sincerely, would you please tell me what is so bad about your life that sweeping "changes" are needed.

Maybe, I,m missing something in my life??
